TELETHERAPY
Q: Will my insurance cover teletherapy?
A: It depends. Per New Jersey PL 2017 c.117, teletherapy is covered for "fully-funded" plans. Insurance companies are therefore supposed to allow it for specific speech therapy codes. When you call us we will do an intake with you and then call your insurance. As of this writing, many insurance companies are extending "waivers" forcopayments/coinsurance that were put in place in March. However, if the insurance plan is "self-funded" then insurance may not cover teletherapy. Please call your insurance company member benefits representatives to ask.
Q: How long is a teletherapy appointment?
A: They are generally 30 minutes long.
Q: How long will Morris Speech Therapy provide teletherapy as an option?
A: We will be providing teletherapy as long as is necessary.
In addition to in-office services, we also provide speech, swallow and cognitive therapy via teletherapy. Although this is a newer platform for therapy, we are finding that this platform is a very good option for most of our clients. Interestingly children with Autism seem to do very well with this option in many cases.
Teletherapy is the online delivery of speech, occupational, and mental health therapy services via high-resolution, live video conferencing. Teletherapy sessions are very similar to traditional speech therapy-- but without the travel time. We like to have parents involved during each session. This platform means we can choose to co-conference with other individuals treating your child such as your Occupational Therapist.
